Thanks so much for your work on our renovation project.
A 100 year old house can be a real challenge on a good day. But when you run in to hard wood floors that
aren’t hard wood at all, but softer heart pine….and as you saw, in horrendous shape. A challenge can turn
into a disaster. Before you came to look at the job, we had 2 contractors look at the floors and refuse to
even quote refinishing. They said they should be replaced, or just carpeted over. A couple others just threw
out a number and said don’t expect too much. We were on a tight budget as you know, but we love this
house, and the wood trim and floors are a big part of that. When you took the time to explain the process
for refinishing the pine floors and helped work out not only the sanding and refinishing of the floors but
explained that since we were removing one of the rooms that had wood floors and replacing it with tile. We
could reuse that material (which would match perfectly) to repair the areas that were too badly damaged
to be sanded.. And it was material that was already paid for. Because of this savings we were able to not
only have the floors refinished and repaired, We could afford to have you re finish the hand build staircase.
The steps were in such bad shape that the former owner, who had refinished the hand rails, gave up and had
them carpeted. We were lucky to have enough material to add the authentic flooring to the walk in closet
we added to the master bedroom. The repairs and added flooring are seamless to the rest of the floor. It
was nothing short of amazing. I’ve included photos of the job in several stages of completion. Feel free to
show them to future customers so they can have an idea of what’s possible and show an example of your
skills. It’s a rare thing these days to find real craftsmanship in a renovation at a reasonable price, and in a
timely manner. And a contractor willing to work with a customer creatively to solve difficult problems and
find ways to stay on budget. Feel free to use me as a reference for future jobs.
